Our Services

Comprehensive foot care, all under one roof

Everyone is under one roof. Our clinicians' collaborative approach delivers a wide scope of expertise — from everyday foot care to custom bracing and orthotics.

Chiropody & Foot Care

Specialised foot care to help patients take control of their foot health, improve mobility, and prevent foot-related complications. Our chiropodists assist with corns, calluses, toenail maintenance, warts, cysts, ingrown toenails, nail fungus, cracked heels, dry skin, diabetic foot care, and foot, knee and leg pain.

  • Corns & calluses
  • Toenail maintenance
  • Warts
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Nail fungus
  • Cracked heels & dry skin

Day-Surgery

Day-surgeries are carried out by our chiropodists to address a number of issues — generally taking about half an hour. The chiropodist will freeze and operate on the area of concern. Procedures include plantar wart removal, nail removal, and ingrown toenail surgery via Laser Matrisectomy and other methods.

  • Nail removal
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Laser Matrisectomy

Custom Made Orthotics

We offer full certified pedorthist assessments to determine whether a custom orthotic is right for your foot. Our orthotics are made using ONLY 3D casting techniques — never a library system of pre-made shells. Orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position, alleviating undue stress and pathologies.

Custom & Off-the-Shelf Bracing

Our qualified team is highly trained to provide a vast assortment of both custom and off-the-shelf bracing options. We specialise in custom gauntlets, Ritchie braces, and AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthotics).

  • Custom gauntlets
  • Ritchie braces
  • AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthotics)

Compression Stockings

If you suffer from general leg fatigue, varicose veins, or swelling, we offer both off-the-shelf and prescribed compression stockings. Let our pedorthist team assess whether a compression stocking is right for you. We offer a wide selection of styles and colours.

Orthopaedic Footwear

We offer a wide selection of orthopaedic footwear and always have a pedorthist on staff to guide you through the fitting process. We are happy to help you select the best shoe for your foot to ensure maximum comfort and pain relief.

Diabetic Foot Care

Proper foot care is crucial for those with diabetes. The diabetic foot requires extra care and attention, and our staff is happy to provide this for you. We also offer counselling and education on daily preventative care.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?

To see a Chiropodist or Podiatrist you do not need a doctor's referral. However, you do need a referral from your family doctor to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes — we are not an urgent care centre or walk-in clinic. Please call or come in to book an appointment in advance to be seen by any of our clinicians.

Are your services covered by OHIP?

No. We are a private clinic so our services are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health benefit plans cover chiropody and pedorthic services — check with your provider.

How long do custom orthotics last?

Generally our orthotics last between 1½ and 2 years. The life of your orthotics will vary depending on your lifestyle — factors such as your profession (desk job vs. on your feet all day) and activity level (avid runner or gym-goer) will affect how long they last.

What is the difference between true custom orthotics and library-system orthotics?

Insurance providers typically cover only custom-made foot orthotics — devices made from a 3D scan or physical mould of the foot, built from scratch using raw materials. Many clinics use a third-party lab that picks a "best fit" from hundreds of pre-made shells, which does not qualify as truly custom. At Hewak Foot Clinic, our orthotics are made ONLY from 3D casting techniques — never a library system.

Does the clinic offer incentives like free shoes with orthotics?

No. Offering incentives such as free shoes or gift certificates with orthotic purchases is disallowed by insurance companies and the governing medical colleges of our practitioners. This practice leads to insurance fraud and rising premiums. The Hewak Foot Clinic proudly adheres to all rules, regulations, and ethical standards.
